Caretakers of the Cathedral is a very special group of people who have informed the bequest officer that provision has been made in their will for a bequest to St Mary’s Cathedral.
By making provision for the Cathedral in their will, members of the Caretakers will be ensuring the great legacy of St Mary’s Cathedral will continue.
Just as previous generations have donated money for the construction and maintenance of the Cathedral, so too must we look to the future needs of the conservation of such a national icon.
Members of the Caretakers will receive special place on an Honour Roll which will be placed in the Cathedral.
You will be specially honoured by the Archbishop and be invited to attend special Masses and events at the Cathedral.

Being a member allows for you to be acknowledged and thanked during your lifetime for your vision and generosity.
WILL CLAUSE
“I give devise and bequeath to the Trustees of the Roman Catholic Church for the Archdiocese of Sydney, for [the general purposes OR the purposes of the conservation of] St Mary`s Cathedral, free of all duties and taxes (including capital gains tax), the following:
Insert the nature of your bequest – see examples below:
For all of your estate:
Insert “the whole of my estate”
For the residue of your estate
Insert “the residue of my estate”
(where you have made other legacies):
For a portion of your estate:
Insert (for example) “50% of my estate”
For a specific sum of money:
Insert “the sum of (here write the actual amount which should also be shown in figures)”
For property or other items:
Insert details of the property or item(s)
and I declare that the receipt of the Dean of St Mary`s Cathedral, Sydney, shall be sufficient discharge for the same.”
There are other options available, for example, leaving the income in your estate to a relative and following the death of that relative leaving the capital to the Cathedral. For these and other bequests it would be advisable to discuss your wishes with your solicitor or trustee.
