Fr Liem Duong
Dear Friends,

Welcome to Embrace - St Mary's Cathedral Youth Group. This group is established by young people and for young people. Our mission is to provide spiritual support to all youth, both local and from overseas. For the past two years young people from all over the world have come to Embrace and all experienced that this is truly their extended family. Young people come together each Sunday at St Mary's Cathedral House to share their faith and struggles in living the faith, to learn again and again the love of God for them and in return their task is to share that very love of God to others.

The theme of the World Youth Day 2008 soon to come is "you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses." (Acts 1:8)

WYD is one of the most successful events for renewing and strengthening the faith of young people throughout the world. WYD is a time and opportunity for young people throughout the world to come together to reflect on the love of Christ for them and through the power of the Holy Spirit they will go out to the ends of the world to proclaim that Jesus is the only Son of God who is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

WYD08 is not merely a time for us to open our hearts and minds to welcome our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, and hundred of thousands of young people around the world but also it is a time for us to open our hearts and minds to receive the power of the Holy Spirit, the power of Christ's truth, love, forgiveness, compassion, peace and harmony. I believe that the Holy Spirit will transform our hearts and minds so that we may become God's instruments in the contemporary world.

I ask you all, my young friends, to continue our journey and carry out the work that we have began. I believe that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will bring it to completion.

I hope to see you at our meeting each Sunday evening after the 6.00 pm Youth Mass.

Yours in Christ,
Fr Liem Duong
